Nigeria's Democracy by OLATOBERU Blessing
NIGERIA'S DEMOCRACY; A SUBTERFUGE OF A SMOTHERING NATION
Good day, dear audience. I'm BLESSING OLATOBERU from the only outstanding citadel of learning with the most beauteous campus in Africa, "ADEYEMI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AFFILIATED TO OAU"
I'm here to give a talk on the topic: Nigeria's Democracy; A Subterfuge of a smothering Nation.
First and foremost, I would love to give a brief description of the country, Nigeria, for most of our seated honorary guests from other countries who will be hearing the name for the first time: Nigeria, a country located in west Africa, comprising of 36 states is bestowed with all kinds of natural and man-made gifts, blessed with the best leaders, noted for an unrivalled buoyant economy, praised for the only corrupt-free-country in Africa for decades. Hence, the name ‘Nigeria— giant of Africa' was birthed
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd be categorically backing up my claims with vivid and grounded facts as to how Nigeria is the best country in the world as at after her Democracy.
Beautiful audience, permit me to start with the security system in Nigeria: As it stands, Nigeria is noted as the third safest country in the entire world and the safest in Africa. Terrorists, bandits, arm robbers panicked at the name ‘Nigerian'. And for decades now, the Nigerian society has never been attacked by, terrorist, bandits or robbed by arm robbers, kidnappers or what have you. States like Borno, Niger, Katsina have been currently listed as the safest states in Nigeria.
Beautiful listeners, I had listened with a bittered heart some minutes ago when my neighbour stated that Nigeria is one of the most corrupt country and that the current president of Nigeria is the worst Nigeria would ever produce. My country people, I would take that as a groundless, fallacious and a reasonless claim base on weak, unwarranted and an unjustifiable points sourced from antiquated source.
Lovely audience, who doesn't know in the entire world that Nigeria, a leading country is far a less-corrupt country with honest political leaders? Who doesn't? According to the 2020 Corruption Perceptions Index recently released by Transparency International, Nigeria was listed as the second less corrupt country in the entire world after Denmark. Second, Mr chairman!
The current president of Nigeria, the one whom I nicknamed ‘heaven sent' has took the citizens' welfarism as his major priority ever since he had assumed office. He has equally fulfilled all his promises and has shaped the cheeks of all Nigerians with unending smiles. Smiling citizens everywhere. Happy parents being paid pensions. Proud graduates with good paying jobs. Happy children dancing with no fear of the future. Free tertiary education. Free meals for primary and secondary school students. Free medical care. Honest politicians. Happy Nigerians!
Federal workers never had embarked on strike ever since my ‘heaven sent' assumed office. This is because they are well paid, gifted with cars annually and other momentary bonuses are reported to bounce in their respective pocket monthly...
He has inclusively lifted over 100 million Nigerians out of poverty such that every household in Nigeria has a millionaire. And his administration is said to be the best in the history of Nigeria. God bless him! God bless my ‘heaven sent'.
Lastly, my dear listening audience... I would love to sweep the floor with the flamboyant economy of Nigeria. I'm mindful of the fact that every seated intellect here is aware of the fact that Nigeria's economy is one of the biggest if not the biggest in the entire world. I know we all know. But then, I'll still lay emphasis on it.
Nigeria is one of the top oil exporter in the world and the very top in Africa. I believe we all know? We do right? Good... Now, I must not fail to mention that Nigeria's current presiding government has utilized this opportunity to create immense wealth for the nation such that over one hundred and fifty million Nigerians live above poverty level. Yes! over 150 million...
The united nations estimated that just 5.2 percent of the total population of Nigerians are classified as poor and these set of people are people who choose to remain poor owing to some cultural or religious reasons best known to them.
Beautiful people, I would love to go on and on to state with absolute validated facts as to how Nigeria is the best country in the world only if time permits me. And that Nigeria is not a failed state as it has delivered democracy for its' people
But since it doesn't permit, I'd bring my talk to an abrupt end.
I strongly believe that I have been able to convince all who with attentiveness has listened to my vibrating voice. And I strongly believe that all will buy with me that Nigeria is not by "Irony" the giant of Africa and giant to the universe in all spheres.
Beautiful people, I remain Blessing Olatoberu...
