Nigeria's Democracy [A poem] by IKUSIKA Abayomi Benjamin

OUR DEMO-CRACY

OUR pilferers pilfer and pant for power, NOW;

Calling our clarion calls;

Sun shines and our shadows overshadowing our BEING;

Pickpockets leading our RACE;

Shadows of their SUNSHINE overshadowing OUR compatriots;

Tell the world the WHITES we have are real BLACKS.

Our government ponder on how to pound OUR FUTURE,

We ponder back on how to pound OUR PAST;

Government of OUR peo-ple, is led by OUR peo-ple but for THEIR peo-ple,

TRAPS all we have in this jun-gle; THEY are all DECEPTIVE hunters.

Turning and turning,

Round OUR roads,

We wonder why we are wanderers of OUR land

As our sand is BLOWN directly into our eyes; by our DEAR peo-ple.
