      'Why on earth would you assume!

      Why on earth would you be chained to change!

      Why on earth would you believe their words!


      The words you preached were not theirs!

      The paths you tread were not theirs!

      Only if you could see these mess!


    The poll was free and fair;

    The nation, unfree and unfair.

    We still live in the shackles of June 12; it pricks!


    But, this earth is your brother, and everything within.

    If I command you not to eat the things of the earth,

    Is like killing you once more.

    But, whatever they may eat in that world; partake!

    A dead body cannot be guilty of double crimes

    You died, because you need to live!

  IDENTITY I tried to wear regalia, like a masquerader to camouflage my guts— but it got stirred. & lost direction like knackered dreams. so... I had to carry myself like a billboard— a mountain of feces that entices a league of tsetses “a name is an identity,” they hummed. but i’ve lost my virginity to street Belials i've lost count of blood to every nook & cranny. my blood now, is every house's paint. an everyday tale in the mouth of street griots. my deodorant perfume reprehends fame. on my wear they engraved ‘Stephen’ so, they throw stones at me… of iniquities— my knowledge is blind to. each lane; each pace—i follow. i see the pile of garbage & the spillage of oil left by the forgoers. i’m the portrait of Evans, carrying his sins. i bear the cross of Hush & Puppy; while I answer Peter. ’Cause they told me, “I am the identity of my mother tongue”. ©F.
